If it has a location, EquiMap can map its reach.

EquiMap began with public services, fire, ambulance, GP access. But the method is universal: wherever a service sits in physical space and serves a population, EquiMap measures who it reaches well and where it could reach further. The only requirement is location data.

One method, any located service

Take the locations of any service, stores, clinics, restaurants, branches, depots, charging points, overlay the communities they serve, weight by whatever matters to you (income, age, population density, spend), and EquiMap reveals the coverage picture: where you serve well, where demand outpaces presence, and where the next location would do the most good. Public or commercial, the engine is the same.

EquiMap’s signature capability · resilience-gap analysis

Hazard × Exposure × Vulnerability = the Resilience Gap

Disaster risk has long been understood as hazard × exposure × vulnerability. A single map shows one of those. EquiMap brings all three together, so you can see the one thing no single agency is positioned to see: which communities sit in the highest-hazard terrain, are furthest from emergency help, and are least able to cope, all at once. That overlap is the Resilience Gap, and it is where lives are most at risk.

Exposure & reach — live on real open data
Vulnerability — live on real open data
Hazard — add your certified layer
A real example from our Sydney fire data

Our live Greater Sydney analysis already flags Bilpin-Colo-St Albans as the community furthest from a fire station, 36.7 km to the nearest. It sits in the heart of the Blue Mountains, terrain devastated by the 2019-20 Gospers Mountain fire. Two of the three layers, exposure and vulnerability, already point here on real data. Add a certified bushfire-hazard layer and a community like this rises to the very top of the Resilience Gap list, visible to a planner before the next fire season, not after it.

The framework is built; the hazard layer is yours to add. The exposure-and-reach and vulnerability layers are live on real open data today. Bring a certified hazard dataset, bushfire-prone land, flood extents, heat exposure, and EquiMap completes the Resilience Gap picture for your region. This is exactly the cross-domain analysis that sits between agencies and rarely gets done, and it is built first for emergency management, fire and state agencies.
Beyond government

Built for equitable services, everywhere they're needed

EquiMap's heart is fairness of access. That lens is just as powerful in the commercial world, where reach, convenience and inclusion drive both growth and good outcomes. A few of the many possibilities:

๐Ÿ”
Quick-service & restaurants
"Which neighbourhoods can't easily reach us?"
Map outlet locations with population and demographics to find under-served catchments, plan the next site, and ensure convenient access across a whole city, not just the easy, premium corners.
Data needed: outlet locations + a population layer
๐Ÿ›’
Retail & supermarkets
"Where are the access gaps in our network?"
Identify communities far from a store, including "food desert" areas where access to fresh groceries is limited, and prioritise new locations by genuine community need, not just footfall.
Data needed: store locations + demographics
๐Ÿฆ
Banks & essential services
"Are we leaving any communities behind?"
As branches and ATMs consolidate, EquiMap shows which communities, often older or regional, lose convenient access first, supporting fair, defensible network decisions.
Data needed: branch/ATM locations + population
โšก
EV charging & infrastructure
"Is the rollout reaching everyone fairly?"
Map charging points with where people live to ensure the transition reaches all communities, a fast-growing area where equitable coverage is both a public good and a planning requirement.
Data needed: charger locations + population
๐Ÿ“ฆ
Logistics & delivery
"Where is service slowest or thinnest?"
Overlay depots and service zones with demand to surface areas with the longest reach times, balancing efficiency with equitable service levels across a region.
Data needed: depot/zone locations + demand
๐ŸŽ“
Education & childcare
"Which families have the fewest options nearby?"
Map schools, childcare or training providers with young-family populations to highlight where access is tightest, valuable for operators, councils and not-for-profits alike.
Data needed: provider locations + demographics
How it works

From your data to a coverage story, in four steps

The process is identical whether you're a fire service or a fast-food chain. Data is the only input that changes.

STEP 01
Bring your locations
A simple list of where your services sit, addresses or coordinates. That's the one thing only you can provide.
STEP 02
Choose who you serve
Population, age, income, spend, or any demographic that matters. We bring open population and area data; you bring the lens.
STEP 03
EquiMap measures reach
We score every area for access and equity, weighting by what you care about, surfacing the patterns intuition misses.
STEP 04
Act on a clear map
An interactive map and ranked shortlist of where to focus, the next location, the under-served community, the fair decision.
Why it travels

The same engine, demonstrated on rigorous open data

The public-service case studies use some of the most rigorous, well-scrutinised open data in the country. If the method holds there, it holds for your network, and your own data only makes it sharper.
